Ya'll are clueless. Game sells for $3 right now and that gets you a free month to bot with. Game should absolutely go F2P with a cash shop. Wake up. Game back down to 300 people online.
Exactly. In an MMO where freedom was the banner, being remembered, leaving your mark on the game, had nothing to do with your Steam achievements, or wearing a stupid patch saying you killed a thousand creatures, or forged 2,000 swords, but rather your human impact on the game, the relationships you forged, the people you helped (or harmed), your creations, your stories, your real impact as a human being on the lives of others within the game.I would argue because of mastery and trinkets. It changed what people must do to be legendary. I don't even know what you accomplished in the game, but I know of you. I know you did some stuff. I know some of your history, but I definitely know you and the whole meduli stuff. It was fun. That's what the game is supposed to be, I agree.
People want a damage buff for achievement, but what about being remembered. There are plenty of dudes who have farmed many mobs who nobody will remember.

I don't mind making 5,000 swords; I want to make a unique, personalized sword that I will gift to a king to honor our friendship. I don't want to kill 5,000 identical enemies. I want to kill one that is unique and special. I don't want to make a generic potion that someone else can make, but a special and different one, created by me. I want to sign my weapons and armor and have them have special, unique characteristics. I want everyone to know that I am the one who created them, not because there is a name, but because what makes them unique is associated with me. I want to write a book inside the game. I want to set sail and be the first to discover islands lost at the end of the world, containing ancient ruins and tunnels, that will lead me on a unique adventure, where I will obtain loot that will never be repeated. Anyway... so many lost dreams.
That was the essence of MO.
In MO1, I was able to leave a mark. NOT because I did anything truly important (it was just a game), but because of the relationships I forged, the friends I made, and the stories I created.
Only that remains.
That's lost today. Completely.
The game is moving toward its end, having completely betrayed the spirit that once inspired us all to play and embrace this project 20 years ago. Simply as someone already retired, I sit here reading forums and discussions, while everything falls apart, just as I warned at the release.
There's nothing to be done. The game is finished. It's a fact.
The only smart thing I can think of would be to give creative control of the project to someone like Ichorus, a real-life visionary.
Anything else will only delay the end.
95% is bots now. Talk about dense. 200+ of the games pop is bots right now.Having a subscription is one of the few things SV got right. Without it, 95% of players would be bots and exploiters.
What makes me mad is regional pricing around the world , and the fact that people can just use a vpn and pay cent on the dollar for both game price and subscription, while i have to pay the equivalent of 15 US dollars (even though i don't make the equivalent of US salaries).
So i end up paying around 22$ which is very high for a non AAA game that has huge ping issues a endless plethora of bugs and problems.
Still, id rather pay a sub than watch this game become all bots and hackers.
Always so quick with the insults. Just cant handle any opinion thats contrary to yours. You instantly start slinging mud. Grow up dude. This is why everyone just ignores you most of the time.95% is bots now. Talk about dense. 200+ of the games pop is bots right now.

1500 bots and 1250 players > 100 bots and 100 players. A slightly worse bot to player ratio is meaningless if the game is dead.
Real reason they won't go F2P isn't to keep the game high-integrity (cause it isn't now and never has been), it's because the servers cannot handle more than 1k people online at any given time.
You’re someone who played mo1, participated in the big sieges, the economy, the build diversity. You really think mo2s problems are based on the payment system and not the lack of depth of the gameplay?Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer players every day. If this continues, our beloved game MO2 will face the same fate as MO1.
To fix the situation, in my opinion, we need to:
1. Make the game FTP;
2. Introduce restrictions for all FTP players (house building, TC, marketplace sales, access to high-quality content);
3. ON a subscription that disable all game restrictions;
4. Add an in-game store for visual items (cloaks, weapons, dyes, horse armor, etc.);
5. Introduce an in-game subscription token (make it very expensive so that the player can farm 2-3 weeks 24/7);
We all need to understand that if we don't do something now, our favorite game will soon disappear...
Unfortunately, but again, in my opinion, people won't just jump into this game and subs up. It's a true sandbox, where every player needs a lot of time to figure it all out. And if they like it, they'll stick around and pay for the subscription.
The world of MO2 is too vast, and its lack of players completely kills the game and makes it boring even for fans of the game.
In today's gaming industry, you can't just assume "If you don't want to pay, screw it." Players will leave, and the game will die...
