Mortal Online 2

Stream Summary | Into the Vault #69

August 1, 2022

Greetings Mortals,

On Thursday, July 28th at 19:00 UTC Henrik hosted his regular weekly stream over on Twitch

This week during the stream, Henrik hopped in game and dove into the new Necromancy dungeon with some members of the community.

The stream has been archived on our YouTube channel, with some handy chapters and timestamps in the description!

Here are some key points Henrik touched on throughout the stream:

Necromancy Patch Reception & Afterthoughts

We have been closely following the feedback, streams and other media talking about the latest 1.0.4 patch.

We appreciate the patience you all had with waiting for this one. This patch spanned across a complete overhaul and upgrade of our internal workflows, and as such part of the delay can be attributed to growing pains from this transition. This change will ensure much smoother and more efficient development moving forward. With that huge update behind us, we will be moving to smaller and (hopefully) more frequent patches to fix various bugs and issues with the game, including both legacy issues and new ones.

Currently, we are working on a second hotfix post necro patch, which should be out shortly.

When we have more information regarding Project Polish and the future content roadmap, we will let everyone know.

Backend Updates & Optimizations

Sometimes the players do not see the changes we make in the backend such as optimizations that are client side and server side because we do not always include them in the patch notes, however this is always an ongoing effort for us.

We feel that we are in a great spot for client performance, and we are happy with the very positive reception the updates we made in this patch have received.

Although the server is not as stressed as it used to be, server side performance will always be an ongoing focus and this gives us some breathing room as we continue to make things better.

We also have a plan for weekly restarts of the server to keep things clean and running as they should.

Game Mechanic Abuse and Exploits

We are always looking at reports and having discussions on how to handle certain abuses or and exploitation, and on occasion it can take some time to determine the best course of action. Once we make a decision, we plan to always inform the community as soon as we can.

We are in the middle of creating more tools for our GMs to monitor and help players when needed, we are committed to this. We have been investigating abuse and adopting a more heavy handed approach to punishments and bans.

We will shortly announce some policy changes and other information, so please stay tuned for the July Ban Report and related announcements.

Solo and Small Group Content

We understand that not all players can or want to engage in content that requires large groups, and recognize the struggles smaller groups have with being able to access certain components in the game.

With Necromancy, we have spread out ways to learn the school and their spells throughout the land, and we plan on introducing more Points of Interest that will help with this as well.

As always we appreciate your feedback on this topic, we have been and will continue to make efforts toward allowing more smaller group play in the world of Nave.

Fist Weapons

We are almost done with the art for Fist Weapons.

We are not quite ready to show off this new weapon type yet, but we are very much looking forward to when we can.
