The issue there is in the first game your gear actually mattered
- it was hard to get
- it was actually viable without being steel
- you could use mobility as Defense
- battles actually had real siege consequences. Now everyone pats themselves on the back and goes home.

Gear is badly balanced and so are the game mechanics.

The type of balance that these alpha plebs convinced sv to take is removing entire things out of the ecosystem. Like we don’t like rabbits let’s kill them all, we don’t need lions they scared my little daughter and it’s not fun to be scared HENRIKKK.

I feel like they don't really want the MO experience. They want the MO ambiance and a different game, which turned out to be really bad.

Why we ignore zero risk of storing assets?
Assets are blood of a game. If you dotn need to move anything anywhere with risk - there is no content for other players.
If you can store billions without a risk, or evac it after 2+days with little risk - why anyone need to destroy anything??? Why would 20 ppl waste time, then 1 man can evac his goods?

Even after destroying enemy castle or home, you still cant steal anything... Cause everything stored in node memory??? Or locked for a DAYS for safe evac? RLY????
You can rebuild bank on node and get everything back. Goddamn, delete TC Banks, or make em full-lootable. Same with keeps and strongholds. Make structures lootable right after full destruction. Only town-bank can give you 100% secure of your goods. Nothing else. Even Keeps.

Siege timers , and siege costs need to be reworked. Not in money, in resources and human-time.
Noone want to sit in game for 48hours straight to get content. And noone wants to be destoyed for 1 hour after he logged out. How about soft locking assets after 50% of damage to structure? And on next day you can destroy everything and get all juice?

Instead of sticking to their original vision of what they wanted Mortal to be they catered to the masses of visiting carebears that wanted a safer game and have for the most part left now...

Yeah, we were never really a fan of the house only lootable by owner for 48 hrs. It worked like this in the first game as well. We just kind of accepted it. The item risk came from a lot of prominent guilds living out of tc banks and when the bank was destroyed the items wouldn’t be gone but be hard to access. It still was more risky than player housing online 2

When they started ruining combat back in Combat Alpha like they did in MO1 in Closed Beta/Open Beta I knew this would happen eventually...
Larn from mistakes man, such a hard thing for some people. A damn shame.

I feel like an absolute brainlet talking about events that happened 4 years ago, but you’re absolutely correct, destroying the combat in alpha was already starting mo2 on a cursed footing.

The game actually could have survived that horrendous combat as they did actually successfully replace the mo1 community with a new community that liked the world of tanks style combat. However the truly terrible decision making then extended to everything else in the game. Housing bad, elementalism bad, class balance bad, flagging bad, tc bad. Henrik literally failed at designing everything and I’m grateful for it as if mo2 was actually sort of fun and I missed out on it, I would have been upset. Thankfully the game ended up being completely soulless and nothing was missed.

Let me share my worthless opinion/experience about MO2.

-#1 The size of the map is too big, people supposed to fight for resource and territory. I will never change my opinion on this matter, Assets should be relatively easy to destroy and build. The map design was doomed from the start.
-It was fun with no guard, fighting in "EMPTY", Still "EMTPY" Town btw and what I mean by empty is all the empty useless building, just to make a BUTIFUL scenary that we enjoy the first 5sec.
-They ended added guards, FINE , they was pretty weak, easy to parry, I was enable to just tank guard in town and just mess around having fun.
-They added LIKTOR guard, OK .. Started to realise MAYBE the devs dont like us. Solo Fun was no more allowed.
-ONE NIGHT maybe we had TOO MUCH FUN killing 50 koto horse in meduli <Well deserved BTW>, next day they added LOOSING STANDING ON AGRO and a lot of guards , even in Graveyard. OKAY BUD , u guys could have punish me and the people involved by putting us in jail and having a chat in JAIL like the good old MO1 days, but nan they had to PUNISH every one. I lost faith in game the game development after this.
-They changed how ecumenical spell work, you no more rewarded for having the PERFECT timing on your cast, now you can spam the button and it wont fizzle, made the casting slower and less skill based, to me they killed ecumenical on that patch.
-I got blame a lot for "Not Playing the game" like it was intended, I was playing a little alverin name Kelly, roleplaying in meduli, stabbing noob/vet putting them in mercy mode, basically just doing casual naked pvp in graveyard and inside town. SO I decide to actually "play" the game and join a guild and actually try the "content". I joined Sneeze and patwin guild<I dont remember the name>, played at least 1 year with them, but the game had Chest issue and stuff was disapearing from the chest<Thank you seb> and off course I got accused of stealing a few stack of cronite from the guild and get kick out ( if only i had 2 stack of cronite) after trying to join other pvp focus guild without real success and getting fukt by the devs over and over I just quitted the game :3 oh and the "content" It was actually fucking dogshit and boring, pve wise the game a big zero nono .

Thanks. You likely always considered me a “pet user mounted”. They made mo2 footfighter online for you. You probably liked that overall. I could never get passed the combat and the class design. I think most people in your case didn’t mind footfighter online with negative movement speed, its more the fact that sv couldn’t design any systems to actually support the open world sandbox like the first game and instead made this weird slasher theme park hybrid. That’s what I meant earlier that the game could have survived the trash combat but not the trash sandbox mechanics. Do I have that right or do you also think the combat sucks.

Fighting in the meduli GY at release was so much fun before they fucked the whole area with guards. The only graveyard in the whole game to have guards directly inside, I wonder why.

I dont think the foot combat suck, if we only speak about the fighting but there is indeed quite a few flaw, specially Weight wise, i still prefer a simple version like MO1 with 3 directional and mob 1 directional and a parry window/angle more punishing. The last thing that really pushed me out of the game is the fact mob run faster than you and have multiple atk direction with horrible animation, you cant walk any where without getting stomp by mobs, which wasnt the case at all in MO1, the player was the king, not the NPC.

I was maybe crying/talking shit about mounted player back then but, i still have good mounted memory using mounted cavalry as flanking strategy in huge battlefield in the pyre/rpk/dred/req <and more> war, it was actually enjoyable/risky and rewarding , specially the first 1000hrs in the game. I dont know if its the case but if MO2 Mounted Combat swing animation is still as bad as I remember its a big shame.

I havent play too much with the sandbox part, I quitted a few week after TC/Siege patch, when my casual guild told me to not kill any one in the jungle anymore after moving my character down the jungle and I indeed died on the way by some tamer that pressed 1 button while aiming at me.

Nice! so even bicorps think they went too far in the class nerfs!

In terms of the mounted swings being absolute ass, I can confirm that they are and nothing has changed with that.

The reality of mounted right now is that everyone uses lances. They hit even harder than mo1 mounted weps but are 10X easier to aim, everyones horses goes the same speed, mount armor reduces your speed making it terrible, MA's now can hit for 140+ EASILY with full mastery and full trinket on ARMORED horses, and footfighters will chase you down on an unarmored horse being faster and earthquake you for 1 dmg but it still dismounts. The game is absolutely scuffed in that design.

Pets are actually sort of balanced. I'd say they overnerfed it in the sense that pets don't actually do any damage with attacks, you just have to get one with the right overpowered abilities like spider pull. I can't really complain because this is exactly what I told them they should do and they did it, even though I don't actually like it (you can barely even PVE with pets).

Its crazy that the npcs chase you all across the map everywhere you go wtf is that.

MO is best remembered as a game that brought so many different types of people together and it really seemed like all of us, despite our playstyles, began to learn and understand what the ideal game would be. It just took time. That's probably why it's frustrating to watch the game change in the wrong direction because if there is anyone who should have more experience with the game, it'd be devs...

I was in MO1 and it wasnt nearly as amazing as you all make it sound. It was a complete desync lag fest where people would just spam fast weapons to abuse prediction…the good ‘ol days…. For a very small minority of people that like spammy, lag abusing combat and endless chases across the map.

Only 2 races were playable. Vheelas or melee Thursar. Nothing else was viable.
I could go on and on to no end about the issues of MO1.

It wasn't better. It was different. You just happen to like that old shit fest better than this new shit fest.
Nope. You guys on MO1 DID NOT even try to play the game. You just think there were only a few paths. I speak from experience.
