Why does obesity make you smarter (and wiser? - I assume that's what psyche represents)?

Title says it all. Why is it assumed that obese people are smarter and wiser? I can understand the fit/lean/stout characters not getting a bonus, because maybe they are too busy focused on martial feats to concern themselves with education and philosophy... but why do skeletal, skinny, and bony characters get lower boosts to intelligence and psyche (and negatives to psyche in the cases of skeletal and bony). The psyche negatives are especially weird if psyche is supposed to represent some kind of wisdom stat, since the real world is filled with super thin ascetic types that focus on nothing but achieving some kind of enlightened understanding of existence.

It's also unclear why characters gain raw hp the fatter they get,. Seems like it should decline in the same way skinniness decreases health.

Seems like it would make more sense to have thinness and fatness boost int/psyche equally and reduce health and stamina equally. Thinness (except skeletal) should boost dex. Fatness (except obesity) should boost strength.
