Add the option of becoming a trader:

Say you buy items from an NPC at Bakti and if you go to Meduli and sell the items there to the NPC you'd make profit.

Can be good for doing trade runs as guilds and having to defend the traders from possible raiders on the route.

Maybe make it that a successful trade would give you certain experience for completing the trade successfully and that'd grant you something beyond just money.
Same goes for those who escort the trader, they'd get exp for escorting or something, maybe ask for their share from the trader too.

And for the raiders, they should also get exp if they manage to deliver the stolen goods to the town and sell them.

Traditionally, if you buy some cooking utensiles in Tindrem and sell them in Morin Khur-- to players-- you make a profit. Because NPCs in Morin Khur didn't sell any.

(To say nothing of the trade in Somniferum.)

It's the part about selling to the NPC that will evoke disapproval. I'd think it was best to let markets for trading & transport develop as organically as possible (without selling to non-player characters).

maybe some vendors could pay more for items in areas where its less plentiful for vendoring but would still be higher yield to sell to players that need

As we have regional resources, trading across distances should come naturally between players. With this in mind, this is one of those ideas you should only ever add if the player/sandbox trading isn't happening for whatever reason.

Because of the regional resources like Woody said this happens and we plan to do this a lot. My guild is going to make a central trade city. People will def try to raid trades to it, we will try to defend and traders can make quite a solid amount of gold that way.

A padded room.
I agree with others that we need to be trading between players (directly or indirectly) as much as possible for a strong economy.

Players should be able to do exactly like you are suggesting between each other though. We just need the tools to make it easier to do so.

I know it would not serve the purpose you are looking for but I think it could be useful for NPCs to put for sale the items they have bought. And also to lower the amount they will pay for an item based on supply.

It may be for data base reasons that they do not put sold items on the vendors anymore. But I often checked vendors for items players had sold that I could use or profit on. It was kind of like bargain hunting and exciting when you found something good.

Hopefully they are able to give players ways to trade that makes these types of things possible again as well.

I agree with you guys regarding having the trading between players for the most part, but I also think that having certain item types that you won't necessarily would need as a player (like it won't have any value except for selling to a vendor) could add some cool type of side-game inside the game itself which could add some more value.

On one hand I get your point, having such a thing implemented could fuck up the whole economy too and make some inflation on the long run.
But perhaps we could find a solution for this, like have another type of currency for this thing, or something else I don't know.
I believe it could be fun overall as for something by itself.

the tindrem bank always payed other guilds and organize heavy guarded gold transports in every town. Players could pay them 100 Gold in Tindrem and get payed out 80 Gold in a town of their choice, without having the risk of transporting. I guess that servis will return in MO2.

If it doesn't, you're all worthless & weak. And I mean that with a great deal of affection.

Dont make this become something artifically done through an NPC god please dont
Trading between towns already exists, Localized markets and towns being good for specific things means people should be trading things between towns. If anything it would be better to encourage those differences even more. Meduli having no calx and Fab having no Sabura is a great example of how trade can work between towns. We dont need some artificial NPC to generate gold from thin air for us.

My guild already was making gold transporting sabura to fab during the last test. I dont see this as an issue. Just someone who doesnt want to put the time into the ecconomy to learn the trade routes that already exist
