Tank build, armorer or weaponsmith?

So first off I have crappy satellite internet, but soon we're supposed to get fiber in my area, but that may be months away. So basically I'm probably gonna be doing solo/small group activities and crafting for a bit. I tried weapon smiting before the wipe and I really liked it but I'm wondering if I'd be better off and more self reliant going armorsmith?

Idk I feel like a good weapon is much better than good armor. First of all a good set of armor is expensive, secondly no matter how good your armor is if you're getting attacked by like five people you're going to die anyway. Lastly ideally you want to party and not get hit at all
