No rain clouds? How about some lag mist instead

As the title implies, I'm sure it will be lovely when rain clouds get added, but in the meantime this new lag mist, to coin the term, chunks frames for a number of people for zero value added aesthetically. Please add a disable feature, thanks, hate it and it makes me want to log out, to which I just did to make this post.

I wish they just added a slider for rain dencity. Adding some postprocessing effects and maybe clouds durin the rain would go a long way too. Maybe even droplets hitting the camera like in movies as an optional effect.

Something, anything like that would be helpful. Don't have the best rig right now but I made it work for this game and get pretty decent frames with some fiddling only to have a graphical element added that absolutely wrecks frames, unable to remove. I just spoke to someone who went from 50+ frames to 25 in the lag mist, it needs a toggle or optimization badly.
