EAC Multiboxing Issue

The developers either need to make the statement that multiboxing (on one computer, to be specific) is _not_ something that is the intention of the game, or that they are working on solutions to fix this problem.

The entirety of the skill limiting, 1 character per account system, was pretty obviously a pitch at players to have multiple subscriptions per player. Essentially, the game is excruciatingly boring to play as a gatherer with one account (which, if you've played for any amount of time, is clear). You are also very limited as a full time crafter with one account. For those wanting to pursue these paths, or to have multiple contiguous combat paths, you could just buy another account and pay the subscription, multiboxing gathering and crafter (with very little use multiboxing on a combat character). I could describe this gameplay style in more detail (again, would just like official clarification that the idea behind the game 1 character per 1 player), but I will continue on to the issue at hand.

As of now, the game is only available on Steam. Since only one steam account is able to be logged in at one time, players worked around this by using a virtualization software to launch multiple steam accounts. After EAC patch, this no longer worked. I have seen multiple streams with Henrik in which players ask will this be resolved (inability to launch multiple clients because of EAC). His answer, every time, is that the game will launch on 2 confirmed platforms (Steam, Epic Games), and 1 unconfirmed (Nvidia Geforce Now).

The first two have a conflicting interest that is possibly not understood by the devs. Only 1 EAC game can be launched on a computer at one time. Launching on multiple launchers will not help with this issue.

The uncomfirmed Geforce now launch may fix it (It's not something I've personally seen confirmed, although it is technically a streaming service), but required an additional monthly subscription.

Some weird Virtual machine setup may work, but realistically, this is in the same category as recommending someone buy a second machine to play the game.

With all of that preface out of the way, here's a bullet list of what I personally think needs to be determined:

1. Was 1 character per account originally a design choice to generate subscriptions?

2. Is multiboxing characters something that is not intended?

1. It was to make your reputation and actions within the game matter. If SV wanted to suck you dry, there is plenty of other ways to do that.

2. It's not forbidden to multibox as i understand it since it's to much work and effort trying to counter it. However EAC is preventing multiboxing and trying to bypass EAC is against the rules. EAC is a third party anti cheat tool provided by epic games and SV has no control over what it does and epic games wont allow multiboxing since its done through a VM. And VM's is used to bypass EAC and to run cheats of different kinds.

last name on an account with character reputation carry over is a pretty simple solution to your whole “actions matter” argument.

To the second point, again, I’m asking for either specific clarification as stated by the developer whether multi boxing was not wanted (which is fine), if EAC blocking multi boxing was an oversight (which, it clearly was), and whether or not there are any solutions going forward to combat this (launching on Steam and Epic at the same time, which is always Henrik’s answer on streams, is not the solution and will not work due to one EAC title at).

Because, to be frank, the game is incredibly dull with only one account/character, and there is likely no fix to truly make it entertaining.

SV has no control on EAC stopping people from running the game twice. They needed a anti cheat and EAC was the easiest one to use which is future proofed a little bit with Epic making it and, both UE4/5.

Its been shown that the game cant launch on both steam and Epic games store because EAC stops other games from dual running like this.

You can either multi box which is two PCs, switch around accounts, or you can run in a VM but you need two GPUs or a way to split a GPU which is a hassle.

They have already made the statement multiple times that multiboxing isn't the intention. They aren't going to stop it but it's intended to be a 1 character game.

Yes, the only real intention is to milk more money from players, all the other "reasons" that are given have easy work arounds. It's been a great success so far for SV, most players I know ingame have more than one account.

They could just make subscription per char slot if they're not finding a way to multibox - at least saves me using multiple launchers or changing steam accounts.

Yes but then you wouldn't buy the copy of the game twice. It's all about the money. The way it is now encourages multiboxers if anything.

My intuition is that most people will be fine with just one character. The people playing now and posting in the forums probably do not represent the average future player. You are all try-hard neckbeards(respectfully) that are demanding self-sufficiency in a game where that is not the intent.

Specialize! And rely on specialists.

You should be able to multi box when the game is available on epic games which has been talked about by Henrik.

No EAC doesnt allow the same game to be active even on different platforms. Already other games with EAC dont let you have two of them open by using a steam copy and a epic games copy.

Well good to know. The question was asked to Henrik in his stream a few times and that was the answer he gave. However I think the majority of the player base will be against multiboxing.

If SV does support it but won't support a second slot that will be quite the contradiction. They allow you to buy more accounts because this can't really be controlled but multiboxing can so it's unlikely they will allow it. Of course you can always buy a 2nd pc.

Maybe the majority of people who arent serious. Most people want two chars per account and most people I know have multiple accounts. If multiboxing was convenient enough to do most would be doing it just because it makes the game more enjoyable.

Most people want a second slot. Which is driving some players to buy a second account.

SV has a one character vison for the game this is their reason for not giving that extra slot but at the same time you think they will take steps to enable multiboxing. Also I always mined on 3 in mo1 and it's the exact same system in 2 so I feel your pain.

I really dont see whats the big deal with multiboxing. If you are willing to buy multiple copies of the game, and pay multiple subscriptions, i say good for you.

Like others have already stated, those that want to do it will find a way, even if it means running multiple computers. You cant stop it. And it shouldnt be illegal unless the accounts are synchronized and people run around with 5 fat mages focus firing with macros. In that case, yes ban them.

i would much rather SV divert all these resources to fight exploiters and dupers. Those are the real killers of games like MO. Not multiboxers.

Forces player interaction you can't hide behind alts you can't have alts all over the map. I'm not sure any of these reasons help the game they might even hurt it.

Right now SV has to have some reason not to give you just one more slot so this doesn't look like the blatant cash grab it is.

For a lot of us it's not about being self sufficient but just wanting to try other combat builds or RP a different character. If professions is such a big deal to have on more than one slot they could limit the profesion skill pool on the entire account.

Well the biggest issue is that you need two accounts to experience the game fully. Even then a lot of content is locked off.

I'm all for 1 character personally. I do not feel the need to roll multiple characters in order to do the "everything". I feel the community working together makes up for the "I can do everything if I want" mentality that some people have. I prefer to rely on others to make up for what I lack, because then it allows me to interact with other players in a game intended to be played with other players. It's not a solo game... Elder Scrolls is a solo game. Just make friends :). That said, I understand people wanna play a foot fighter and also play with magic separate. That part is a little sad, but hopefully everyone finds what they want and are happy about it! Even if it takes multiple accounts.
