Corrupt and purify

Hello,
I want to understand how exactly those 2 spells work.
If i undeestand correctly you only need 20 ecu for them to work. I was thinking of doing a FF that can corrupt and purify.
Do i need mental training points? For corrupt i really just want the effect that it does so with 0 mental training will it still do 1 dmg and the effect or will do 0 dmg but still the ‘dizzy’ effect? What about purify, will i be able to purify myself without mental training?

For what you want, there is no need to max the damage / healing effect, so you are correct. As long as you have the skills to cast them successfully you don't need to invest more points.
