Butcher Table - Skinning?

Hey all,

until now i thought that you just gain more materials when using the butcher table but as it appears dire wolfs as an example only skin for ironwool when using a butcher table and none when skinning. haven't seen anything like this besides dire wolfs so far but who knows

so my question would be if there is other materials that you also only get from the butcher table or is this a bug?

From what I know it isn't a bug.
It was like this in MO1 as well.

I don't think this is true. I've farmed stacks of Horned Scale on my human by simply field butchering.

Yeah, you get horned from sators by field butchering. I am glad to know about the ironwool thing from direwolves though. Do you guys know any other material that only extracts through the table?

I think most materials can be also skinned. But the for "high tier materials" the yield is reduced greatly. E.g. dense crepite, or more expensive scales such as plate scales or everything above athrporod carapace e.g. Crustance or Reptile Carapace.
As a general guideline you want to butcher all more rare reptiles at a butcher bench such as turtels, shore prowers,... & dire wolves & all boss mobs such as trolls or spider queens.
I think most mamalias can be field-butchered.
