MO2 has come a long way. I just wanted to make a compilation thread of all me and my friends findings on balance and stuff. These are my opinions, I probobly wont waste my time arguing them when someone inevitably disagrees. SV can do as they wish with this.
Also this seems like a lot of changes / issues but overall I do think the game is doing well and I like most things.
MY BIGGEST ISSUE- NIGHTS ARE TOO DARK (outside meduli). Meduli nights are perfect. Make everywhere else like meduli. The moon is the biggest thing every. Its straight bs when its pitch black and I cant see anything but theres a huge ass moon. Dark night make me log out. and I wont be the only one. They arent fun.
Bows- I'm not a fan of the new bow mechanics. Having to hold your bow back even though its pulled all the way back feels super clunky, and ruins any hope of good dps. and if the strong bows would be op from this being changed, make them weaker. But for chasing current bows just feel bad. We dont want old no stam bows, but the current is just super underwhelming.
Bows only drain enemy stam on leg hit but weapons' do everywhere? may be a bug. feels inconsistent, unless im missing something about the mechanic.
Combat- This is debatable but I think it would feel better if you coudl reswing faster even if you missed. This would help the short weapons' that you might not hit at all, and would give mixup options so that you dont have to give them a free parry because initial swing sucks.
0 equipment hits are a joke. I'm not playing mordhau. Remove them completely, or make it a small reduction in damage based on the weapons matrerial.
I feel like the weapons are all balanced to fight tung. In platescale and worse weapons hit really high. Possibly too high. My steel starmace hit my friends platescale guard helmet for a 74...... And steel sword can hit guard ps arms for 40's.
Weapon balance-
Heavy weapon variants just feel like the best. For example, the heavy spear feels so minimally slower, but has way more dur and does more damage. Same with swords and other weapons. The fast versions are too weak to care.
The 2h warhammer just sucks. Way too weak, doesnt matter that its fast. Also it should get a pierce buff so its a viable thrusting weapon. It should have stats like the warclub, enough blunt to do well vs metal armor while being fast. But is eh vs weaker armors where you could have a stronger overall weapon.
2h starmace and flanged hit mega hard so they have potential. I'd prefer they were faster and weaker though, more like mo1 stats. At least one of them should be changed. flanged should be a bit faster,,, currently they are pretty much just the same.
would be great to get a longer handle for 2h clubs and axes. The range just feels shorter than 2h sword, having eq2ual range would really help to land hits on enemies that run after you get a parry.
1h clubs besides the war club suck. War club is amazing vs heavy armor (although its still a bit slow). The others are just sooo underwhelming stat wise. Like 50% less stats compared to their 2h versions. I will say that the handle hitbox of the warclub I used did feel better.
1h swords are decent but the range is just really rough and I do 100x better with a 2h sword. So a stam and speed buff would help make up for being weak with no range.
I dont use 1h axes so no feedback on these.
I dont use poles but they seem good overall. A bit slow for duels but in group fight and stuff I can see them doing very well.
daggers feel like literal garbage. Need super buffs. currently is a no range spear that hits less damage, and doesnt feel faster. Much harder to land hits because the 0 range. Super weak compared to spears. Dont feel overly fast to make up for it. Need a lot of love. The only reason they were good in mo1 was because the handle core buff (after ws got nerfed). Being able to reswing fast on misses would help a ton for these because you could consistently spam hit even if you miss because the weapon range is garbage.

Kinda seems like some are just better than others. Like t guard just feels bad, like its t scale from mo1. Some might needs buffs and more things to give them an identity. Havent done loads of armor tests tho.
Shields- I like current shields. A good shield decreases damage by a good amount, but not old mo1 no damage taken. And using a shield means u have a bad 1h wep (besides spears and warclub). So overall seem good. And blocking is worse stam. ok with me.
