Hi everyone.
Let me tell you about the most immersive RPG experience Ive ever had.
It all started with me, looking for a game, an mmo to be specific, in which I would be able to play music.
Not just some scripted songs, im talking about free-form, being able to play anything I could think of. Just jamming you know.
Then I found "Lord of the Rings: Online".
It boasted a music system in which you could play a lot of different instruments, completely free-form, being able to keybind every single key on your keyboard, to ANY note.
(and being the only game with such a music system so far)
I was NOT dissapointed.
After testing the flexibility of the system, I immediately convinced my friend to download the game, and go on tour with me!
I quickly learned how to play "The Shire theme", and we called ourselves "the Mellowship of the ring".
We litterally went from city to city, completely low level, just playing music. Not only the shire theme-song, but really just jammin. Im a piano player, so it was easy-win for me. People would do Pipe-smoking emotes, danicing emotes, clapping emotes, and even join in with their own instruments. And that was all lots of fun..
But man, just being able to sit on a streetcorner with a flute or a lute, playing moody melodies, just jammin with myself or others.. i swear, it was seriously the best RP experience i ever had. Not a singular shade of doubt in my mind.
Didnt even bother levelling, this was my role in the world.
THE CRUNCH:
It simply worked like this:
- Equip instrument
- Press ctrl + m (for music mode)
- Enjoy your new keybinds, as your character is now stationary, and every key you touch has a note instead. (you can rebind any notes to any key).
- Simply press Esc to cancel music mode, regaining full control of your characters movement and abilities etc.
Please, add this.
It would really suit exactly THIS particular game, a lot, i think.
(consider going even further and add drawing/painting)
Good night
