I've caught them as low as 1505, I think its more in relation to the max depth and your own depth. Since rays tend to bottom feed so maybe try to match them?

I would not recommend using 50+ hooks for trying to get them. So far 50+ hooks only seem to catch certain fish/pulling turtles. I would recommend using larger hooks and deep see fish for them. Trust me, Sandrays are around but after doing 200+ catches I only got them 4 times.

Sandrays are still the same in MO2 as in MO1, I've found a few. Though silkray testing is not going so well! Still trying to figure out this venom cup! XD
