The Empire
Absolute nothingness. Total darkness and absence of senses, then a spark of light, a halo, a blur and a rush of noise like a waterfall.

Favonius Cornelius lay on a simple wood bed, with little more than a leather bound wood block for a pillow, a universe away from origin, a dimension away from prior existence, a thousand miles away from home.

A weak arm....not weak! As if nothing had just happened. Face...same aquiline nose, same lack of hair. Same sex. Did the texts have it wrong? Must look in the mirror.

The first limitation, got up too quickly, Favonius immediately fell to his knees as the slowly materializing world gained resolution. A few moments and the humors rebalance. Location? A stone room, a cell?

The door opens freely into a street, largely vacant of the usual hubbub for this time of day. Squinting into the distance the Abbot made out crenellations familiar. Fabernum. A reflection off the dirty base of a bronze lantern. With some spit and scrubbing a mirror, revealing a face familiar but different. Warped just so, the touch of the gods in trans-dimensional travel. Perhaps the texts were right.

The Ritual of Sundering of old Nave was a success.

Very nicely crafted.

The Empire
Prologue: Timeline Of Relevant Events
(Note: NSE stands for Nave Sundering Event as enacted by Favonius Cornelius, not to be confused with The Sundering)

-1000 NSE: Though claimed to be far older than this, the first records of House Cornelius as found in family heirlooms and records mention the growing Cornelian family. Over the next few hundred years the family elects many Praetors, Prefects, Consuls, and Legatii to name a few.

-600 NSE: The Time of Strife, in which many of House Cornelius are murdered in clan strife on the streets of Tindrem. Only the strong survive. The emperor finally steps in and proclaims certain families Patrician status, including House Cornelius, thus ending the strife.

-300 NSE: The cataclysm of Nave. Tindrem is torn asunder, the empire is much reduced. House Cornelius turns from imperial titles to more humble trades.

-40 NSE: Favonius Cornelius Pola is born.

-22 NSE: A young Favonius travels to Toxai to learn knowledge that only the eastern peoples and the Alvarin know. Here he studies astrology, engineering and biology, particularly aquatic.

-19 NSE: In need of funding, Favonius sells off a number of ancient heirlooms to invest in shipping and fishermen despite strong resistance from the family. Very quickly the investment reaps great reward as a fortune is pulled from the seas on a daily basis.

-17 NSE: Favonius establishes a mighty tower and crafting/trade station at the southern tip of Salvia Island in Imperial Dreams territory. Here he continues deeper studies into astrology, metaphysics and the occult. It is here he discovers the Revelation of the Sarducaan Princes.

-14 NSE: Once again strife grips the lands of Myrland and threatens the very doorstep of Tindrem. Favonius Cornelius determines to revive the ancient tradition of holding Imperial offices of his family as is their right in an attempt to stabilize the holdings of the Tindremic Empire.

-13 NSE: To curry favor with the people, Favonius Cornelius declares Tripartite Festivals upon the death of his father. The Triumphalis Imperialis et Bestia is widely acclaimed to be a great success and wins the hearts of all in Tindrem. The Gladiatoria Violentia bloodsport games are also acclaimed a success by the people and many of Nave's greatest warriors are paid handsomely. Unbeknownst to Favonius, the energy of the gladiatorial games is sensed by a Greater Daemon and it is summoned to the Arena of Tindrem, slaying many. This was the second clue of things to come.

-12 NSE: An opportunity to assume the Princedom just outside Tindrem presents itself. Using his fortune, Favonius Cornelius establishes the Cornelian Monastery. This organization fulfilled the role of monastery, and also served as a clandestine way to establish a buffer zone of Tindremic influence around the capital. For the first time in a long time, the Empire was reestablished from Meduli to Faburnum. In these years, Favonius establishes contact with certain Sarducaan soothsayers.

-10 NSE: Covetous rival powers representing nothing more than anarchy and chaos manage to break into Monastery Keep grounds and destroy the Cornelian Monastery. This craven act of ultimate infamy sets off the Monastery Wars which grips the whole of Myrland for years to come, which are funded by the Cornelian riches and and influences of Favonius. Ultimately years later, the keeps and realms of those powers who attacked the Monastery are totally destroyed.

-9 NSE: Leaving trusted generals in charge of the withering Monastery Wars, Favonius Cornelius collected his closest supporters and friends and relocates to the distant continent of Sarducca. By this point Favonius' interests had transcended the political to the metaphysical as his knowledge of certain events and prophecies demanded his total attention, and only in Sarducca could their culmination be attained.

-8 NSE: Favonius ingratiates himself with the Sultan of Beth Jedda with a copious and constant supply of Mitten Crab, and succeeds in securing permission to build a keep in the Emirate of Belrim. This keep is coveted by local lords and after using his extensive architectural skills to build a fortress, it is sold off for a great fortune.

-6 NSE: Using contacts from former generals of the Monastary Wars, a new final keep is purchased to the far northwest of Sarducca using the Belrim Emirate keep fortune. This keep is greatly expanded, and during this time, Favonius continues his studies in peace and isolation.

-3 NSE: The final pieces of the puzzle that Favonius Cornelius has been working on his whole life are put together. With a new sense of purpose, a great underground crypt is built in the very plateau his keep stands on. Inbred savages of the local jungles, each who styles themselves a 'king', begin to threaten the existence of this last keep, but Favonius has a higher agenda and orders fervent building activity under the keep to enact the Ritual of Sundering.

0 NSE: Finally, with all the pieces set, and not a moment too soon as the jungle savages begin to tear down the outer defenses of his keep, Favonius Cornelius intones the Ritual of Sundering. On obsidian blocks, 100 of his most trusted allies are ritually sacrificed, and in the last moments of the ritual, Favonius spills his own blood as well. The united life forces of these people is transported through time and space into the future. Only a fraction of his supporters are strong enough to make it, along with Favonius, into this future.

200 NSE: Favonius Cornelius wakes in Faburnum. It takes some time to remember why things have happened, and his purpose, but by the grace of the gods he regains all his senses and memories, and begins the work of relocating his remaining supporters and beginning his true purpose.
