Prof points, Crafter vs Refiner

Having a limited number of profession points is good. It makes it so that you can only specialize in one type of crafting at a time.

However, there are not enough points to be able to gather and refine the various ores AND be able to craft. This basically makes it almost required to have more than one account to be able to take things from mining -> finished product.

My question to you is :
Should more of the refining process (and machines) be Secondary in order to streamline the process and make it so only one account would be needed?

It is by design that a crafter will have to mostly rely on someone else to refine their needed mats.

This is what will help provide the market for the person that does do the refining.

I do not like the idea of being limited to leather or silk to make weapons grips.That require one more primary skill for something that is rather marginal.I would prefer to learn advance dendrology instead if we can make the grip out of wood.

You can probably do both of you have enough intelligence or the right race. If you want to do metals then try going human for the material lores clade.
Unless you want to do a combat build + lvl 100 refiner and lvl 100 crafter.
I think it’s fine the way they did it. We just can’t do it all and have the best at the same time.

Assuming you are ok with 70 in the crafting instead of being a master crafter you could very easily fit all of the lores unless you're a low int character...but I'd guess it would be close even with a low int character.

My current build as an armor smith has every lore required other than master metals. I took some zoology instead so I can butcher the animals, but could very easily swap and have someone else butcher the carcass.

A crafter needing to be their own gather/refiner is the mark of a bad "crafting" system IMO. (Thus why I say Wurm Online has the only REAL crafting system in any MMO I have played)

However given this game has cut and pasted everything except it's materials nuances from other titles, I agree it's kind of needed here.

This change was asked for by no one and is complete ass. Bring back the previous grip materials, all this did was throttle the skillpoints of weapon crafters.

Dont think they should give more points, you can still refine and be a crafeter if you like. Nobody says you need everything at a 100. But if you want to be the best you need to specialise or get multiple accounts.

I personally see both sides to the original argument.

On one hand, it makes specializing rather lucrative...and makes mining/refining into another profession.

On the other, however, for small guilds and/or solo players...its basically a red flag for the game being "not for them"...thus losing business.

Now it very well could be the material lores that could be the answer to the issue. Make more of the "parent" sections Secondary rather than Primary and it should also fix the issue.

At the moment everyone can max out all the craft skills and the top quality gear is standard.
When we switch to normal experience gains most people aren't going to put the time and effort into leveling up so many skills and professions.
Specializations are going to be forced by both the time required to level each skill and lore and also by the availability of materials to craft with.
Once there is an auction house to buy materials and sell your armor and weapons and it takes 300 crafts to level up your weapon making skill to craft a decent weapon instead of 3, I believe the less dedicated crafters will not follow the crafting path and just buy what's available.

How is this P2W? Maybe it would be P2W if everyone was playing solo. You could just make friends with a mastercfafter or join a guild.

Maybe if we had 1000 bankspace or ready bags. When your bank is full of gear your own gear and spare equipment for guildies the more stuff you can make immediately upon request means the more mats you can store as opposed to sets of equipment which eat WAY more space.

Also, if more skills isn't "winning" please remove professions skillcaps entirely.

I said having multiple accounts is not winning.
Scenario: You make 2 extra accounts to play and have full skills. I have 2 friends to complete crafting. We see each other out in the world. Who do you think wins the fight?

You need only 500 Primaries for weapon crafting for example. And you habe 700points left over for refining and material lore. and yeah it fits in.

And you evne dont need thiss skill 100 to make max dmaage with the items. so 70 skill points are enouhg when persistance hits.
so you evne have more points left over a full refiner have 600 skill points. if you want to include oghmium than 700. So yes you can fit that in.
and you dont really need advanced ore extraction or do you run around 24/7 in Oghmium xD ok maybe yes

Yeah I also would like to have more freedom in terms of proffesions. But its and mmo. And i hope that i can slam 1000 items in the broker and that we will have 1000 bank space. Or maybe they will add something like 1200 activated points and for small fee of gold you can activate other skills you have already learned that you can switch your crafting fast.

I dupe 10k sets of ohgmium. You put in the actual work to earn one yourself. We meet in the wild. Who wins the fight?

Same logic taken to the extreme.

When I play with my group I am on a pure mage with cooking able to test the materials we gather as we move around the map. When things die down and I want to chill/solo for awhile I switch to a dedicated miner/refiner/extractor that at the same time is optimized for melee (and therefore better for solo play).

It’s a huge advantage that only required more IRL monetary investment. Pay to win.

Not sure why anyone is saying that you can make metals and also craft weapons on the same character. It doesn't really add up, even just putting 70 points into wep crafting only frees up 150 points or so and a slag hauler uses all 1200 points to be completely skilled (couldn't do quite everything with the 1100 points available in MO1 even after they made a few things like mining into secondaries.)

Drop BluntWeapon Crafting or 2h Blade hilt Crafting depends on what you prefer or drop Mastery alloys and blast furnance. I mean blast furnance only in gaul kor so yeah good luck. xD

Im not sure if im completly right but these are all skills needed. andyes you also have some points left because we ahve currently 1200skill point ingame, or am i wrong?

I dont know but it seems you can fit than in? or not? did i forgot something?
